Common Pheasant: A Burst of Color in the Aviary

The common pheasant may be a familiar bird, but our resident male, Percy, is anything but ordinary. With his iridescent plumage and striking red facial skin, Percy is the showstopper of the aviary. During mating season, he performs elaborate displays, fanning out his feathers and calling loudly to attract attention.

Percy has a curious habit of following zookeepers around his enclosure, often pecking gently at their boots as if inspecting their work. Visitors love watching him strut around, exuding confidence and charm.

To keep Percy entertained, keepers scatter seeds and small insects in hidden spots, encouraging him to forage just as he would in the wild. His vibrant presence adds a touch of nature’s artistry to the zoo.
