Nile Crocodile: The River King

In the reptile house, the Nile crocodile reigns supreme. Our crocodile, Pharaoh, is an impressive sight, measuring over four meters in length and exuding an air of ancient power. His enclosure mimics the Nile’s environment with a large pool, rocky banks, and basking spots under heat lamps.

Pharaoh is known for his patience and stealth. During feeding demonstrations, he showcases his hunting prowess, remaining motionless for minutes before striking with lightning speed. Visitors are always amazed at his precision and strength.

To keep Pharaoh engaged, keepers use enrichment activities like floating puzzle feeders and scent trails that mimic prey movements. Despite his fearsome reputation, Pharaoh’s calm demeanor in the zoo reflects the care and respect he receives from his keepers. His story highlights the importance of protecting crocodiles and their habitats from human encroachment.
