Unlike their cold-weather relatives, Galápagos penguins thrive in warm climates, making them a fascinating species in our zoo. Our pair, Diego and Isla, are small but incredibly lively. They spend their days darting through the water in their enclosure, which mimics the rocky coastal shores of the Galápagos Islands.
Diego is particularly playful, often chasing bubbles created by zookeepers, while Isla prefers to lounge on warm rocks. Their diet consists of small fish, and visitors enjoy watching them dive with precision during feeding times. These penguins also serve as ambassadors for ocean conservation, highlighting the need to protect their unique habitat from climate change and human impact.
